Son of Princess Cecilia of Great Britain and Count Adrian of Russia, Bernardo was one of the last of the Giant Chinchillas and a descendant of Hubert the Brave.
He spent a happy childhood in Queen Victoria's court. When Madam Gingerbell visited he was enthralled with her stories. He always had an interest in traveling
and seeing the world. Circumstances occurred which allowed him to travel the world a lot sooner than perhaps he would have liked. Madam G. was entrusted with him and the
two set sail for the States in 1900.
They settled in Hhapselspag, Oregon, and it was here that Bernardo met Dr. John Hinchman Stokes, M.D. and the two became friends.

It's Bernardo's birthday!
Dr. John Hinchman Stokes puts the party hat on his head, while he munches contentedly on his cake.

As a special treat, a person prances about in a Madam Gingerbell costume, much to the delight of Bernardo!
Dr. Stokes takes a photograph, while the real Madam G. observes from the shoulders of a mysterious faceless gentleman.
