Madam Gingerbell was invited to stay in the court of Queen Victoria as an honored guest.
At the time, many believed her sentience to be a hoax.
As a result, it was thought that her associations with the queen should be kept relatively secret.

M. Gingerbell is present, but hard to see.. as the giant chinchilla Cecilia (aka "Princess")
tends to attract and dominate the eye's attentions.

The Royal family, including the family dog (and Cecilia).
Note Cecilia's adorable gnawing of the bonnet she was given to wear for the photo shoot.

When Madam Gingerbell left for the States, she agreed to keep
one of Cecilia's litter, a pleasantly dispositioned youngling named Bernardo, as her ward.
Cecilia and Bernardo, are apparently descendants of Hubert the Great, the first Giant Chinchilla in the European Continent.
