there was a blue rabbit, a frog, and an eel
and if you ask my dad there is no doubt that he'll
tell you the story of how they all met
now - the frog's name.. um.. well, i forget,
but the blue rabbit's name i know it was waldo
and kevin was what the eel was called - oh! -
the frog... was named audrey now i remember!
and they all met on the sixth of december
on that day kevin was visiting land
his mom was a singer in a famous jazz band
he would go see her when she had a gig
this might sound weird... but his mom was a pig
an eel son, a pig mom? how can that occur?
well my dad says that he was adopted by her
one lived on the land, one lived in the sea
but they often would visit, tell jokes, and drink tea.
he was halfway to seeing his mom that morning
when suddenly, kevin received little warning
of an approaching flurry of blue and green
it was audrey and waldo (ages nine and fourteen)
they were both in a contest of who could hop the most distance
when they saw kevin, they stopped & asked for assistance
"on matters of leap length, we can't seem to agree...
could you? would you? be our referee?"
kevin felt honored to accept this mission
he agreed to judge their hopping competition
he was very fair and his ref skills weren't shoddy
when there was a close call, he would use his eel body
straightening and stiffening himself on the ground
he could use it to measure the length of each bound
"you are our ruler!" audrey made the pun
they laughed at the joke, they were having such fun
i know that it sounds like there's not much to tell
that there's no point to my poem, that i should say my farewell
many might think there's no point to reciting
but me and my dad think this story's exciting
every time he tells it, his eyes get real big
his hands move about and he dances a jig
there is no better day than the day the three met:
kevin and waldo, and ..
oh, I forget!!
