Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - March 19
Written by Charlie Kaufman of Being John Malkovich and Adaptation fame. Has Kate Winslet. Could be good. But might be really bad. I mean, it's got Jim Carrey in it.

The Ladykillers - March 26
Coen Brothers. Remake of an Alec Guinness film I like. But I'd rather see the brothers make an original film again. Intolerable Cruelty was all right, but not up to the normal Coen quality level. Make me proud, boys.

Hell Boy - April 2
Based on a favorite comic. By a director I really admire. Plus, the artist himself had a huge hand in the making. Buzz is good on this one. But I have these lingering doubts. It's really hard to pull off what they're trying to do. Crossing fingers and filing my horns.

Kill Bill, Vol. 2 - April 16
Well, I saw volume 1 and it felt like half a movie, so now I want to see the second half of the movie. Plus, I must occasionally get a dose of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon action. Sanity's like a garden. You have to tend it...

Harry Potter 3 - June 4
I didn't really like the first two. But this is Alfonso Cuaron, director of Y Tu Mama Tambien, so maybe he'll actually make a good movie out of these books.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - June 11
I'm really curious about this one. Big giant robots, pilot aces, floating cities, Harryhausen monsters, pulp cliffhangers. But will the fact that everything was filmed in front of a bluescreen make it fail?

Spiderman 2 - July 2
First one was good. My brother worked on this one. 'Nuff said.

The Incredibles - November 5
Pixar's next one. Brad Bird. Not really any chance it won't be good.

Brothers Grimm - November 19
Gilliam's return. The world needs another good Gilliam film.

The Life Aquatic - December 1
Wes Anderson hasn't made a non-excellent film in my opinion. They just get better as he goes. This one has Henry Selick animation and Cate Blanchett. Everything about this movie is beckoning to me like a sea nymph. Take me under the waves, Wes.

MirrorMask - ?
Two big favorites of mine are Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. They teamed up to make this film for Henson, a sort-of sequel to Labyrinth. Probably amazing. But will the low budget and excessive cg usage ruin it for me?

Coraline - ?
Stop-motion animation director Henry Selick will one day do this Gaiman favorite of mine. I think it's a fine one for him.

Howl's Moving Castle - ?
I've read the imaginitive book by Diana Wynne Jones, a good British children's author. Don't really have any doubt this Miyazaki adaptation is going to pure goodness incarnate.

Strangers with Candy - I don't know. I like this TV show okay. I like Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris a lot. I just want them to be in a movie and see them get vats of molten cash.

Confederacy of Dunces - Adaptation of a favorite novel. Stephen Soderburgh. Cool. Scott Rudin. Cool. Cast: Lily Tomlin, Mos Def, Olympia Dukakis. Cool. Drew Barrymore. Uh. Will Ferrel. WHAT? I hope they know what they're doing.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Another adaptation of favorite novel. Also strange casting, but it might work. Another book I want done right. Please succeed. And I don't mean financially.

Tenacious D - I'm a fan. Don't want a bad movie to tarnish their name.

The Squid and the Whale - Noah Baumbach who made Kicking & Screaming is also the co-writer to The Life Aquatic. Made this film simultaneously with Bill Murray. Might be funny.

Red Dwarf - A good movie version of this TV show would improve the state of the human condition.

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory - Tim Burton is over-rated, but Johnny Depp ain't. And he's playing Willy Wonka, and the film's going to be more like the book. I don't know, why not?

Star Wars, Episode III - I just want to see it because I want to laugh. To laugh and laugh and laugh. And finally see the whole nightmare end so we can put it behind us and pretend it never happened.

King Kong - Can't wait to see what Peter, Fran, and Philippa do here.
